Fidelity Bank Plc has extended its food bank initiative to residents of Victoria Island in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Lagos.

The bank distributed food packs to hundreds of people as part of its nationwide campaign to fight hunger and poverty.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Adebayo Adeyinka, Executive Technical Assistant to the MD/CEO, said the initiative aims to reduce poverty, hunger, malnutrition, and infant and maternal mortality across Nigeria.

“The Fidelity Food Bank aligns with the UN’s Goal 2 – Zero Hunger. We have reached IDP camps and flood-hit areas like Niger State. This is a nationwide project we are proud of,” he said.

Also, the bank’s Divisional Head, Operations, Mr. Henry Asiegbu, praised the growing support for the programme.

“It has been positively received at all levels. The overwhelming support encourages us to sustain and expand this initiative,” he noted.

Residents described the food bank as a source of hope. A community representative, Victoria Olubiyo, said:

“Fidelity Bank has brought joy to us. Even during the no-cash crisis, their ATMs worked. They have fulfilled promises, provided boreholes, and shown care. Today, men, women, children, and the disabled are supported. Other banks should emulate them.”

Another beneficiary, Jerome Igbe, added:

“This means so much to struggling families. I didn’t expect this kind of support. May God bless and replenish them.”

Fidelity Bank, which serves over 9.1 million customers through 255 business offices and its UK subsidiary, continues to drive impactful projects under its CSR.

The bank has won several awards, including the 2024 Excellence in Digital Transformation & MSME Banking Award by BusinessDay BAFI Awards, and the Best Bank for SMEs in Nigeria by Euromoney.
