Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has firmly dismissed claims that he intends to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), reaffirming his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Fayose clarified that his public support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election should not be interpreted as a move to APC.
He described Tinubu as a respected national figure, particularly in Nigeria’s South-West, but stressed that his political allegiance remains with PDP.
“The PDP’s problem did not start today. I am not a member of the APC, and I will never be. I openly supported Asiwaju because I consider him a leader from our zone, but my loyalty to PDP is unchanged,” Fayose said.
His remarks come amid a series of high-profile defections from PDP, as several governors and lawmakers have recently joined the APC.
