The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has launched its mobilisation campaign ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

This move follows the release of the election timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). According to the schedule, the PDP primaries in Ekiti will hold in October 2025.

At a strategic meeting on Monday in Ido Ekiti, party leaders from five local government areas gathered to outline plans. The meeting, held in Ido-Osi Local Government Area, focused on unity, grassroots mobilisation, and early voter engagement.

Mr. Funso Ayeni, a former senatorial candidate, convened the session. He urged party members to put past disputes behind them and focus on winning.

“This is not the time for division,” Ayeni said. “The APC has failed our people. We must reconnect with voters and prepare to reclaim power.”

He stressed the importance of starting early and speaking directly to the people.

“Our votes won’t count if we don’t engage the electorate,” Ayeni said. “Mobilisation must begin now, not weeks before the election.”

Ayeni acknowledged the challenges facing the PDP but insisted that no party is free of internal issues.

“We must not allow our differences to destroy the party,” he said. “The National Working Committee is taking steps to resolve them.”

He added that meetings are ongoing at various levels, and efforts to reunite aggrieved members have started.

“Every political party has its share of conflict. What matters is how we respond. I’m confident we’ll get it right,” he said.

Ayeni urged members to act with urgency and purpose.

“If we stay united and focused, we will win in 2026,” he concluded.
