Award-winning singer Ayra Starr has become the first African artist to receive a Latin Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Her hit single “Santa,” featuring Rvssian and Rauw Alejandro, earned the prestigious certification after surpassing 35 million streams.
This achievement places Ayra Starr among the few African artists with RIAA Latin certifications, alongside Rema, whose track “Bubalu” is certified Platinum.
“Santa” has enjoyed widespread global success, securing multiple Platinum certifications in Spain and Mexico. It also topped the charts in Spain and reached No. 2 in Colombia, Ecuador, and Central America.
The song’s international appeal stems from its blend of Afrobeats and reggaeton, featuring lyrics in both Spanish and English.
