The camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has once again dismissed reports suggesting he has opted out of the 2027 general election.

The claim, which circulated widely on social media, alleged that Atiku had endorsed his political ally, Peter Obi, to serve a single term ahead of the next presidential race.

Reacting, Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, described the report as false, stressing that the former vice president has no plans to withdraw from the contest or support another candidate.

This is not the first time Atiku has had to refute similar claims about his political future.

In October, reports emerged after an interview with the BBC Hausa Service suggesting he intended to step aside for another presidential aspirant in 2027. His team later clarified that the comments were misunderstood, maintaining that the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate remains interested in contesting again in 2027.
