Nigerian singer Asake has come under scrutiny following viral reports that his father is in poor health and seeking financial assistance. The controversy deepened after claims emerged that the music star had abandoned his ailing father, Mr. Odunsi Fatai.

However, a contrasting narrative has now surfaced, shedding light on Asake’s upbringing. A man identified as Segun Ben-Ajayi has countered earlier claims that Mr. Fatai was an absentee father, stating that he single-handedly raised the singer from the age of three after his mother allegedly left.

Father’s Sacrifices for Asake

Ben-Ajayi described Mr. Fatai as a dedicated father who worked as a local government staff member in Lagos and went to great lengths to provide for his son.

“Mr. Odunsi Fatai was not an absentee father. Far from it. He raised Asake alone after his mother left. He sold his car to send him to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). His teachers, colleagues, and neighbors can all testify to his sacrifices.”

Ironically, Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, adopted his mother’s name as his stage identity, despite her alleged absence during his early years. This revelation has sparked emotional reactions, with many calling for Nigerians to support the ailing Mr. Fatai.

Public Reactions

The revelation has triggered widespread debate on social media, with many questioning Asake’s decision to reportedly distance himself from his father.

@Ogunlade L Ebunoluwa: “Posterity will judge Asake. If the reports of his father’s sacrifices are true, then he owes him at least some level of care.”

@Casmir Ejike Okoli: “Asake should know better by now. If he fails to act, he might face similar treatment from his own children in the future.”

@Abayomi David-Ola Asaolu: “Those who accused the father of being absent are now silent after evidence surfaced. What about the absent mother?”

Leaked Chat Between Asake’s Parents

Amid the growing backlash, an alleged conversation between Asake’s father and mother surfaced online. In the chat, Mr. Fatai was reportedly pleading for financial help to pay his rent, further fueling the debate.

As the controversy unfolds, fans and social media users are calling on Asake to address the allegations and clarify his stance. Will the singer break his silence? Only time will tell.
