A senior figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ambassador Mohammed Bomoi, has resigned from the ruling party, citing discontent with its national leadership and what he described as the marginalisation of the North-East.
Bomoi disclosed his decision in a statement dated December 25, 2025, announcing his exit from the Tinubu/Shettima political movement and his complete withdrawal from the APC at the national level.
He previously served as Secretary of the APC Special Purpose Committee for the North-East Zone and was a key member of the Tinubu Support Group.
According to Bomoi, his resignation was prompted by the party’s failure to properly recognise and carry along him and other loyal members who mobilised support across Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba and Yobe states.
He accused the APC’s national leadership of adopting what he termed an aloof and laissez-faire approach toward the region.
Bomoi said the perceived exclusion had eroded his confidence in the party and in the political leaders he supported.
He further alleged that actions under the current administration suggested the North was being treated as a “caste,” arguing that the social contract between the region and the centre had been deliberately weakened.
“Consequently, I have no regret leaving my position as Secretary of the APC Special Purpose Committee, North-East Zone,” he said.
