Sergius Ogun, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) senatorial candidate for the forthcoming Edo Central District by-election, has reaffirmed the party’s resolve to dislodge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE News on Thursday, Ogun accused the APC of seeking to undermine the nation’s democracy by attempting to eliminate all opposition parties and manipulate the 2027 polls. He, however, maintained that the ADC would resist such moves and offer Nigerians a credible alternative.
“The ADC right now is the only opposition party in this country,” he stated. “What the government in power wants is for everyone to roll over so they can write the 2027 result. We are saying that will not happen. This country belongs to all of us.”
Ogun lamented what he described as the dangerous erosion of opposition under the current administration, asserting that Nigerians were already fed up with President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
“We know we have not had good governance from those in power today, and we will send them packing,” he declared.
He further explained that the ADC was born out of necessity to protect democracy and ensure Nigerians have a viable alternative. According to him, many political observers foresaw the current administration’s attempts to stifle opposition voices in the country.
