Nigerian music star Ayodeji Balogun, known as Wizkid, has reacted to the ongoing social media dispute involving his fans and Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti, son of the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
The online spat, which has trended for days, started after Seun, 43, accused Wizkid’s fanbase, Wizkid FC, of disrespecting his father’s legacy by drawing comparisons between Wizkid and Fela.
Breaking his silence on Tuesday evening, Wizkid, 35, addressed the controversy via his Instagram Stories, directing a series of harsh remarks at Seun.
The Grammy winner first reposted a video of a woman speaking in Yoruba, who strongly criticised Seun’s recent online conduct. In the clip, she condemned what she described as days of aggressive social media rants and verbal attacks, calling on Seun’s family to step in.
She argued that his behaviour was harming Fela’s legacy and questioned the constant insults directed at others online.
Shortly after, Wizkid made his own posts, openly attacking Seun and asserting that he had surpassed Fela’s influence.
In one message, Wizkid referred to Seun as a “fool at 40” and claimed he was “bigger” than his late father. He repeated the claim in another post, using stronger language to taunt the Afrobeat singer.
The comments have since sparked mixed reactions online. While many fans criticised Wizkid for disrespecting a music legend, others defended him, insisting Seun’s earlier remarks triggered the response.
As of the time of filing this report, Seun Kuti had not issued a direct reply to Wizkid’s comments.
