Nollywood actress Judy Austin has cautioned young women against rushing into marriage, stressing the importance of mental and emotional readiness before taking such a major step.
Speaking in a video shared on her Instagram page, the actress reflected on her personal experiences, noting that early marriages often lead to challenges such as divorce and single parenting.
Austin advised women not to marry out of pressure or because of pregnancy, explaining that many who do so end up with regrets. She urged women to ask themselves whether they are truly ready to share their lives with a partner before making a lifelong commitment.
“Being mentally prepared is key to managing the responsibilities that come with marriage,” she said, emphasizing the need for personal growth before settling down.
The actress encouraged women to focus on self-development—dating wisely, learning about people, and trusting in themselves and God. According to her, building emotional strength and financial independence can help women make better choices in relationships.
Reflecting on the consequences of early marriage, Austin noted that many women face painful experiences, including divorce or the struggle of raising children alone.
“Some women disappear after childbirth because of the emotional and financial pressures that come with unprepared marriages,” she added.
Judy Austin, who became Yul Edochie’s second wife in April 2022, has three children with him. She was previously married before that union ended in 2013.
