Nigerian singer Waje has shared why she refrains from expressing opinions about the separation of the popular music duo, P-Square.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, the award-winning vocalist said her decision stems from her understanding of family dynamics and the importance of respecting personal boundaries.
“I try not to have opinions about these things because I have a family. I have siblings. Sometimes you can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family,” she explained.
Waje noted that being deeply rooted in family values means recognizing that differences are inevitable. According to her, it’s sometimes necessary to maintain love from a distance to preserve peace.
“Family members will always be different from you. Sometimes, you just have to say, ‘I can love you from afar.’ We can’t have an opinion because we don’t know what really happened or how each person feels,” she added.
The singer also spoke about her expectations in relationships, saying she cannot marry a man who lacks ambition or success.
“I can’t marry someone who isn’t successful because I’m not in my 20s anymore — we’re not growing together. A man leads by inspiring and setting aspirations. If he can’t motivate me to grow, we can’t be partners. So, success, faith, and emotional intelligence all matter,” she said.
