The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos socialite, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, better known as Pretty Mike, and more than 100 others following a midnight raid on his Proxy Night Club in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The agency confirmed the arrests in a statement on Sunday, October 26, 2025, by its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi.

“In Lagos, NDLEA operatives in the early hours of Sunday, 26th October, raided Proxy Night Club at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, where a drug party was going on. Over 100 suspects, including the owner of the club, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, alias Pretty Mike, were arrested and taken into custody for screening,” the statement read.

According to the NDLEA, cartons of illicit drugs—including Loud and laughing gas—were recovered from the suspects and the club’s store. The operation followed intelligence reports indicating a “drug party” was being held at the venue. Undercover operatives reportedly infiltrated the event around 11 p.m. on Saturday before launching the raid at about 3 a.m. on Sunday.

All suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in the incident, the agency said.

In a separate operation, NDLEA officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) intercepted 70 parcels of cocaine concealed in cocoa butter containers bound for London. The drugs, weighing 3.6 kilograms, were discovered on October 14 during routine cargo checks.

A cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, who attempted to ship the items via Air Peace, was arrested. Two others—Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, a healthcare worker, and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, CEO of Mutiu Adebiyi & Co Travel Agency—were later linked to the consignment and also detained.

Similarly, operatives at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA), Enugu, foiled an attempt by a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, to smuggle 103.59 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside herbal coffee packs to the Philippines.

The NDLEA also made a series of arrests nationwide:

In Kwara State, Umar Abubakar (40) was caught with 21,950 capsules of tramadol concealed in a water heater at Bode Saadu.

In Taraba, officers intercepted Auwal Musa (26) and Salihu Bala (22) with 450,000 pills of tramadol and Exol-5 being transported from Onitsha to Mubi, Adamawa.

In Kogi and Nasarawa, agents seized a combined 290 kilograms of cannabis during separate patrols.

In Lagos, a suspected dealer, Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, was arrested with 500 grams of Canadian and California Loud allegedly distributed across Lekki, Ajah, Ikoyi, and Victoria Island.

In Ikorodu, 275 litres of skuchies—a dangerous mix of blackcurrant drink, cannabis, and opioids—were recovered.

In Abia, a 75-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were apprehended with over 4.9 kilograms of cannabis.

In Ondo and Kaduna, 384.5 kilograms of skunk were confiscated during raids.

At Seme Border, 55 kilograms of skunk and 121.3 litres of skuchies were seized.

In Zamfara, officers arrested Abubakar Ibrahim (30) with an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 rounds of ammunition allegedly destined for Bagega forest.

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised officers across the various commands for their coordinated efforts. He urged them to sustain the agency’s “balanced approach” to drug control through continuous enforcement and rehabilitation initiatives.
