Lagos State will host the 2025 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards. The 17th edition takes place on December 14, 2025, at Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.

The hosting rights were officially presented to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during a ceremony attended by Nollywood stars and industry veterans. Segun Arinze, Biola Adebayo, Femi Branch, Wole Ojo, and Scarlet Gomez joined the delegation led by BON Awards founder Seun Oloketuyi and Executive Director Feranmi Olaoye. Toke Benson, Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, also attended.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s Commitment to Creatives
Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted his administration’s active support for the creative industry. He explained that the government’s role goes beyond financial sponsorship and focuses on empowering creatives.

He said, “We know the industry needs support. Our goal is to elevate it and create opportunities. We want to amplify voices that may not otherwise be heard. We also focus on job creation and wealth generation for young people. Supporting the creative sector is not just sponsorship; it is meaningful, strategic assistance.”

Guinness World Record Bid

The governor praised BON Awards organizers for planning to set a Guinness World Record for the longest red carpet, expected to stretch eight kilometres.

Seun Oloketuyi noted that bringing the awards back to Lagos marks a full-circle moment. The ceremony began in Lagos and has since toured Nigeria’s six geo-political zones. Past editions took place in Kwara, Kano, Imo, Oyo, Osun, Kogi, and Ondo states.

Strategic Return to Lagos

Organizers said returning the awards to Lagos reinforces the city as the heart of Nigeria’s booming creative economy. The move aims to consolidate Lagos’s status as a hub for entertainment, culture, and innovation.
