Dalung Warns Tinubu: Prepare for a Lagos Return in 2027

Former Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, has predicted that the opposition coalition, led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), could unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. He warned that Tinubu may have to return to Lagos after just one term.

Dalung, a senior figure in the ADC, made this statement during an interview with the Nigerian Tribune on Saturday.

He noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have failed to meet Nigerians’ expectations. This, he said, has created space for new political forces like the ADC.

“Tinubu may soon realize that he should start preparing to return to Lagos by May 29, 2027,” Dalung said.

He stressed that Nigerians are frustrated by worsening economic conditions, rising insecurity, and poor governance. According to him, these challenges will push citizens to demand a fresh political direction.

Dalung also dismissed President Tinubu’s earlier claim that the ADC is a camp for displaced politicians. He said the party is quickly becoming one of the strongest platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The ADC is not just another minor opposition party. We are building a movement that will surprise even the most skeptical Nigerians,” he added.

Although he did not reveal specific strategies, Dalung confirmed that the ADC is engaging stakeholders nationwide. The party plans to present credible candidates ready to challenge the current political system.
