Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has announced her latest ambitious challenge, cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice. The event will take place on September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Dream Project Two Years in the Making
Baci revealed on Instagram that the massive pot will measure six meters wide and six meters tall. She described the challenge as a dream she has nurtured for two years, finally coming to life this year.
Celebration Beyond Food
According to her, the event goes beyond a cooking test. It will serve as a cultural festival filled with music, food, and community bonding.
“In 2023, the Hilda Baci Cookathon captured global attention. This year, it is all about jollof, the pride of West Africa,” she said.
Powered by Gino and Community Spirit
Baci partnered with Gino, a household food brand in Nigeria, for the historic event. She stressed that the challenge is not only about making history but also about celebrating Nigerian identity.
“Two years ago, I envisioned the largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice. Today, with Gino, that dream is becoming reality,” she wrote.
From Guinness World Record Holder to New Feat
The chef first gained international fame in May 2023 when she set the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. However, Irish chef Alan Fisher later surpassed her achievement in November 2023.
Now, with this fresh attempt, Baci is once again set to place Nigeria on the global culinary map.
