The Deputy National Youth Leader of the PDP, Timothy Osadolor, has cautioned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike against actions that could disrupt the party’s national convention. Moreover, the upcoming event remains crucial for party unity. In addition, insiders note that Wike’s disagreements with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde could threaten preparations.
NEC Approves Convention Plans
Osadolor told Punch that the party has completed key preparations. He said, “The convention has not yet taken place. However, NEC met with INEC participation to approve resolutions for the Ibadan event. Also, notifications were sent to all concerned. Furthermore, all members have received updates about the convention schedule.”
Supreme Court Bars Court Interference in Party Affairs
He addressed legal threats from Wike’s supporters. “Additionally, the Supreme Court has ruled repeatedly that courts cannot interfere in internal party matters,” Osadolor said.
He cited the Anyanwu vs. Southeast Leaders and LP vs. Abure cases. “Therefore, courts will not entertain disputes about party affairs. Consequently, any attempt to intervene constitutes overreach. In the same vein, party members must respect these rulings,” he added.
Call for Unity and Party Rebuilding
Osadolor urged all members to prioritize the party’s growth. “No individual can halt the PDP’s progress. Thus, members should support the rebuilding process. In addition, this is essential after recent defections by governors and senators. Similarly, every member must act in the collective interest of the party,” he said.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to its programs. “As a result, the national convention will proceed as planned. Moreover, legal threats cannot stop the PDP from electing new leaders to guide the party,” Osadolor concluded.
