The Nigeria Police Force has extradited Abubakar Aboki Mohammed fraud suspect from the United Arab Emirates over a $307,500 scam. INTERPOL NCB Abuja issued a Red Notice after investigations linked him to serious financial crimes.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the extradition on Saturday. It took place on Friday, May 23, 2025.

Fraud Case Traced to Abuja-Based Businessman

In July 2023, an international businessman in Abuja filed a complaint. He claimed that Mohammed posed as a shipping agent and collected $307,500 for transporting ten luxury vehicles from the UAE to Nigeria.

Police investigations confirmed the fraud. Mohammed used fake credentials to gain the victim’s trust and secure the contract.

Mohammed instructed the victim to send the money to a third-party FCMB account. The account belonged to Anas Usaini, a resident of Kano. The police said the funds were later laundered in Dubai.

After collecting the money, Mohammed issued a forged bill of lading. He then vanished and cut off all communication.

Suspect Arrested and Returned to Nigeria

Dubai police arrested Mohammed on April 15, 2025. Nigerian authorities later brought him back to face trial at the Federal High Court.

According to the police, this case reflects ongoing efforts to fight transnational crimes.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, thanked the Dubai Police, INTERPOL Abu Dhabi, and the Nigerian Consulate in Dubai. Their cooperation made the extradition possible.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to partnering with international agencies. They vowed to pursue criminals who exploit cross-border systems to defraud others.

Ongoing Crackdown on Financial Crimes

The Aboki Mohammed fraud suspect case follows other recent arrests. On May 13, 2025, INTERPOL NCB Abuja apprehended two more suspects for similar crimes.

Robert Harms, a Canadian, and Okeke Ogechi Njaka, a Nigerian, allegedly defrauded victims of $210,000 and ₦452 million.

These arrests highlight the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to combat cyber and financial crimes.
