APC to VeryDarkMan: Apologize for Attacking Akpabio

The South-South Zonal chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a one-week ultimatum to popular social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan. The party demands he apologize to Senate President Godswill Akpabio over alleged disparaging remarks.

The call for an apology follows a viral video where VeryDarkMan sharply criticized Akpabio’s attendance at the Pope’s funeral in the Vatican. He described the act as “shameful,” questioning the Senate President’s moral authority to represent Nigeria abroad. VeryDarkMan argued that with several states, including Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Ogun, and Enugu, grappling with violence, Akpabio should have stayed home to address national issues.

In response, Blessing Agbomhere, the APC South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary, condemned the remarks. He described them as slander masked as activism, accusing VeryDarkMan of seeking popularity through defamation.

According to Agbomhere, President Bola Tinubu personally appointed Akpabio to lead the Nigerian delegation. Therefore, any criticism of his attendance reflects a misunderstanding of national representation.

“VeryDarkMan has built a reputation for making baseless allegations and launching unprovoked attacks,” Agbomhere stated. “His criticism of the Senate President is irresponsible and harmful.”

Moreover, Agbomhere highlighted Akpabio’s deep Catholic faith and strong family values. He insisted that these qualities made him an ideal choice for representing Nigeria at such a significant religious event. He urged VeryDarkMan to retract his comments, apologize publicly, and refrain from further attacks on the credibility of the Tinubu administration.

In addition, Agbomhere called on Nigerians to disregard the influencer’s “ill-informed rants.” He noted that VeryDarkMan’s approach promotes misinformation and unnecessary division among citizens.

Furthermore, Agbomhere stressed the administration’s commitment to resolving Nigeria’s security challenges. He recalled that after returning from official visits to France and the United Kingdom, President Tinubu immediately convened security meetings with top officials.

At those meetings, Tinubu directed security chiefs to adopt innovative strategies to combat insecurity nationwide.

“These complex security problems cannot be fixed overnight,” Agbomhere said. “Nevertheless, the Tinubu administration remains focused on restoring peace and protecting the lives and properties of all Nigerians.”

He concluded by calling for patience and national unity, emphasizing that sustainable security reforms are actively underway.
