…Last-minute changes fuel speculation as political groups backpedal on planned weekend rallies
Planned political rallies in support of Governor Douye Diri and former Governor Aminu Tambuwal were unexpectedly shelved over the weekend in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, sparking curiosity and raising concerns over rising political tensions in the state.
The Pro-Diri rally, initiated by the Izon Keme-Ama Assembly, was initially scheduled to take place at the Tombia Roundabout on Saturday. However, the event was postponed without a new date announced. Similarly, another group, the New Democrats, which had declared intentions to hold a simultaneous rally at the same venue, also failed to show up.

Security operatives, including NSCDC officials and local task force agents, maintained a strong presence around the area, suggesting preemptive measures against possible unrest.

Warning Issued Over Potential Date Clash

He emphasized that any resulting disturbances should be blamed on those attempting to sabotage the peaceful
