Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a staggering 99.9% of the total votes in the 2027 presidential election.

Akpabio made the bold prediction during a grand reception in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, held in honour of Governor Umo Eno, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the event, Akpabio expressed confidence in the future of the APC and its key figures, including Tinubu and Governor Eno. He said the governor’s defection marks a new political chapter that would favour both Eno and the ruling party.

“I see everything turning around for Umo Eno and Tinubu in 2027. With my presence here today, I see you becoming the first re-elected governor. For Tinubu, I see 99.9% of votes coming his way,” Akpabio stated.

President Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election with 8.79 million votes (36.6%), faced stiff opposition from Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party. The outcome was contested in court, but the Supreme Court eventually affirmed Tinubu’s victory.

Governor Umo Eno’s defection is seen as a major blow to the PDP in Akwa Ibom, with analysts predicting a power shift in favour of the APC ahead of 2027.
