President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Dr. Mike Adenuga, Chairman of Globacom and Conoil, as he marks his birthday today, April 29.

In a message issued on Monday, Tinubu described Adenuga as a symbol of resilience, innovation, and national pride. He said Adenuga’s rise from modest beginnings shows the power of vision, hard work, and discipline.

“Dr. Mike Adeniyi Adenuga Jr. is a shining example of what dedication and humility can achieve,” Tinubu stated. “His success in banking, telecommunications, and oil and gas reflects his strong values and relentless drive.”

Transforming Industries, Creating Jobs

The President praised Adenuga’s role in transforming key sectors of Nigeria’s economy. He recalled how Globacom disrupted the telecom industry with the introduction of per-second billing. This bold move expanded access to mobile communication for millions of Nigerians.

Tinubu also highlighted Conoil’s impact in the oil and gas industry. He said the company has proven that Nigerian-owned businesses can compete with global players. According to him, this has strengthened Nigeria’s energy independence and created vital economic opportunities.

“Through these ventures, Dr. Adenuga has helped create thousands of jobs,” Tinubu noted. “His efforts have empowered people and boosted national development.”

Beyond business, Tinubu celebrated Adenuga’s deep commitment to philanthropy. Through the Mike Adenuga Foundation, he has supported education, healthcare, and cultural development. The president said these contributions have touched lives across Nigeria and beyond.

“Your generosity has provided support where it is most needed,” Tinubu said. “You have invested not just in business, but also in people.”

Tinubu also applauded Adenuga’s global reach. He noted that the business tycoon’s investments across Africa and Europe earned him prestigious international honours. These include France’s Commander of the Legion of Honour and Ghana’s Companion of the Star of Ghana.

“Your global achievements bring pride to Nigeria,” Tinubu said. “They reflect your bold vision and deep commitment to excellence.”

He concluded by praying for Adenuga’s continued health, wisdom, and inspiration. “On behalf of all Nigerians, I wish you a happy birthday and many more years of impactful service,” Tinubu said.
