The Yoruba Youth Assembly (YYA), the umbrella body for all Yoruba youth groups, has condemned recent attacks and false allegations against Mr. Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

The group issued a communiqué on Sunday after a meeting in Ibadan, where 38 affiliated unions gathered. YYA President, Mr. Thomas Olarinde, and Spokesperson, Mr. Jide Alofe, signed the statement.

The YYA responded to claims made by Atiku Isah, a factional president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). Isah alleged that Seyi Tinubu disrupted his Abuja inauguration, sent thugs to assault him, and offered him a N100 million bribe.

YYA described the accusations as false, malicious, and politically motivated. The group said Isah’s actions were part of a plan to smear reputable individuals, including former NANS president, Mr. Sunday Asefon.

“These claims are baseless and dangerous,” the communiqué stated. “Isah wants to discredit committed youth leaders through lies and manipulation.”

Olarinde said opposition forces were using Isah to destabilise the student movement. He added that Isah never attended the official NANS convention or election and has no legal right to speak as NANS president.

Call for Legitimacy and Respect

“As someone who didn’t contest or win any official election, Isah’s claim to leadership is false,” Olarinde said. “He’s impersonating the NANS presidency and misleading the public.”

The YYA president urged Isah to stop dragging the Ministry of Youth into political controversies. He also asked him to respect Seyi Tinubu, who supports youth development across Nigeria.

Olarinde reaffirmed Mr. Olusola Oladoja as the legitimate NANS president. He warned that false claims could damage student representation nationwide.

“We won’t allow impostors to hijack student platforms for personal gain,” he said. “YYA stands ready to defend the truth and protect the integrity of youth institutions.”

The group urged security agencies and stakeholders to step in and prevent further misinformation that threatens student unity and leadership.
