SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, released a statement on Sunday in Ilorin, the state capital, confirming the arrest.

Allegations Include Threats, Incitement, and Defamation

The statement reads in part:

“The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that, following a petition received from one Mr. Okunola Saheed, popularly known as ‘Osupa,’ against Mr. Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, also known in the entertainment industry as ‘Portable’…

“Police detectives from the Kwara Command have taken lawful steps in accordance with due process to investigate the matter.

“The petition contains serious allegations, including criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, and the use of abusive and insulting language.”

Court Warrant Obtained for Arrest

“Given the gravity of these allegations and the evidence provided, the Command obtained a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin.

“Acting on the warrant, operatives from the Command proceeded to Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, 2025, where the suspect was apprehended at approximately 7:25 p.m. He was immediately transferred to Ilorin for further investigation.”

Suspect in Custody, Charges to Follow

“Upon arrival, the suspect gave a statement in the presence of legal representatives from both parties. He remains in custody, and arrangements are underway to charge him to court without delay.”

Police Urge Calm and Caution Against Misinformation

The state police command reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is administered fairly and transparently. It also urged the public to remain calm and avoid circulating unverified information.
