The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its resolve to reclaim legislative seats currently held by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Delta Central federal constituency during the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency Forum in Ughelli on Saturday, Delta PDP Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, vowed that the party would unseat APC lawmakers from the National Assembly.
Arenyeka applauded the unity and determination of the Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency, stressing that their collective strength would guarantee a PDP victory in the next election cycle. He emphasized that the people are eager to return the PDP to full dominance in the region, ensuring that the APC loses its grip on federal legislative seats.
He further commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his leadership and commitment to the development of Delta State. According to Arenyeka, the governor’s administration has significantly impacted the state, strengthening the PDP’s chances of retaining power beyond 2027.
Zoning to Play Key Role in 2027 Elections
Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, underscored the importance of zoning in shaping the political landscape of the state. He noted that since 1999, Delta has adhered to a rotational governorship system, which has contributed to political stability.
“Every previous governor has served two terms, and this time will be no different because Governor Oborevwori is delivering results, and Deltans can see it,” Onyeme stated, reaffirming the party’s commitment to the zoning principle.
PDP Confident of Sweeping Delta Central in 2027
Also speaking at the event, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, expressed confidence that the PDP would secure a landslide victory across Delta Central in 2027.
“What we have done today is a show of unity. The entire Federal Constituency stands behind Governor Oborevwori, and we are confident the PDP will sweep all eight local government areas in Delta Central,” Guwor declared.
With growing political momentum and increasing support for the PDP, the battle for Delta Central is expected to be fiercely contested, with the ruling party aiming to solidify its influence in the state.
