At the third edition of the Imperfectly Awesome Conversations Summit, business leaders and professionals urged Nigerians to adopt resilience, tenacity, and a growth mindset to overcome life’s challenges.

Held on April 13 at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, the summit was convened by author and transformation coach Omotola Bamigbaiye. The event drew participants from various sectors who shared insights and personal experiences.

Bamigbaiye created the summit to extend the message of her book, Imperfectly Awesome, which encourages self-love, reinvention, and honest conversations around failure and growth.

“Failure doesn’t mean the end,” she said in her welcome address. “It’s often the beginning of personal transformation.”

Leadership and Accountability in a Changing World

Amos Ologunleko, Project Delivery Manager at NLNG, challenged attendees to think and act like reformers. He urged them to question outdated systems and lead with courage.

According to him, real transformation begins when people take responsibility rather than shift blame. “Ownership is key. It’s how growth starts, both personally and professionally,” he said.

Omolara Banjoko, Marketing Manager at FrieslandCampina WAMCO, shared her own story of resilience. She stressed that soft skills, such as consistency, precision, and discipline, are critical for success, especially in the workplace.

Confidence Starts from Within

Transformation coach Dr. Folakemi Fadahunsi encouraged attendees to silence impostor syndrome. She emphasized that self-belief is the first step toward personal breakthrough.

Patience Ekeoba, Senior National Program Specialist at UN Women, addressed gender inclusion. She highlighted how societal structures often marginalize women. “It’s time for leaders, especially men, to ensure women have equal voices at decision-making tables,” she said.

For Entrepreneurs: Shift Your Mindset, Stay the Course

Alex Goma, Managing Consultant at BusinessMax Consulting, reminded business owners that persistence drives success. He advised entrepreneurs to treat failed sales not as rejection but as learning opportunities.

“If customers aren’t buying, rethink your message. Don’t walk away, improve your approach,” he said.

Similarly, Osato Evbuomwan, Marketing Director at Moët Hennessy, underscored the power of mindset. “What you tell yourself after a setback shapes how you move forward. Growth happens when you choose to learn,” she explained.

The summit featured keynote speeches, three panel discussions, and a lineup of speakers including Franklin Ezekhome, Abigail Tiwa Olanubi, Amachree Isoboyei, and Tewa Onasanya. Their combined stories and strategies offered attendees a practical blueprint for bouncing back stronger.
