Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, has shared an emotional revelation. He said the uncanny resemblance between his newborn son and his late child, Ifeanyi, is “scary.”
Recall that Davido lost Ifeanyi in a tragic drowning accident at his Banana Island home on November 1, 2022. Months later, he revealed in an interview that he had secretly married his partner, Chioma. In October 2023, almost a year after the loss, the couple welcomed twins, a boy and a girl. Eventually, they had a grand wedding in June 2024.
In a recent chat with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, Davido said the twins brought healing. According to him, the new boy’s resemblance to Ifeanyi made it feel like he had returned.
“That type of loss made you just be like, ‘I’m out,’” he said. “I just wanted to focus on my wife and family. To come back from that and be blessed with twins, a boy and a girl, was incredible.”
He continued, “The boy looks just like my late son. It is scary. It’s literally him. We all said, ‘No, it’s him. He came back.’”
Moreover, Davido said the tragic loss changed his outlook on life. He now finds strength in encouraging others who are grieving. He also said his marriage and the success of his 2023 album Timeless renewed his faith in God.
Reflecting on his journey, he said he often watches other stars online and feels fulfilled that his dreams came true.
Speaking about his work with American artist Chris Brown, Davido disclosed they have recorded about 20 songs together. When asked if a joint album is on the way, he said, “We could put out two albums right now. It’s going to happen.”
He also shared his excitement for Chris Brown, who is currently celebrating 20 years in music. Davido added that he had planned to join Chris on his anniversary tour.
Finally, the singer confirmed his growing interest in film. “I’m an executive producer on a movie and a series with my director, Dammy Twitch. We are also working on my documentary,” he said.
