Afrobeats singer Bella Shmurda has stated that music functions as warfare and a tool for societal advancement, not just entertainment.
He made the comments in the For Bunmi documentary, describing music as an instrument of progress and goodwill.
He said it helps keep people sane, lifts their state of mind and lets them dance away sorrow.
“Music is warfare. Music is a tool for the society. Music is a tool of progress. Music is an instrument of goodwill. Music is a tool to keep people sane, to put them in the right state of mind, to make them dance away their sorrow, and to make them feel alive and self-conscious,” he explained.
The ‘Cash App’ singer said fatherhood has changed his approach to music.
He revealed that he is now more conscious of his song choices because he wants his children to be proud of his work when they grow up.
