President Bola Tinubu has met with Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike once more in a renewed push to find a lasting solution amid the ongoing political crisis in the state.
The meeting was held on Sunday at the Aso Villa, Abuja, according to presidency sources.
The meeting is linked to the leadership tensions in Rivers State and the failed attempts by certain lawmakers to remove Governor Fubara from office. Details of the talks have not been made public.
This new interaction shows the administration’s concern for stability in the oil-rich state and is speculated to be at least the fourth time President Tinubu has personally intervened to settle the long political tension between the two men.
One of the sources claims that after the meeting at Aso Rock, Governor Fubara then drove with Wike to his home in Guzape, Abuja.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency nor the parties had released an official statement regarding the meeting.
