Nigerian music star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has responded forcefully to a renewed paternity dispute involving teenager Anu Adeleke, who publicly appealed for a DNA test to confirm whether the singer is her father. The controversy has intensified after Anu’s mother, Ayo Labinjoh, shared alleged direct messages between her daughter and Davido, claiming the singer used abusive language and threatened her family during the online exchange.

The dispute reignited in mid-January 2026 after Anu took to Instagram to respectfully request a DNA test from Davido, citing years of bullying and mental anguish from classmates who mocked her claim that he was her father. In her heartfelt post, the teenager described how the unresolved question of her identity affected her during childhood and into her early teens.

Davido Denies Paternity Claim as Anu Adeleke’s Mother Releases Alleged DMs- OLORISUPERGAL MEDIA

Davido broke his silence on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), issuing a blunt denial of the paternity claim and stating that the matter had already been addressed through multiple DNA tests. In a series of posts, he said the tests were conducted at five different hospitals. Three were selected by him and two chosen by Anu’s camp and that all results were negative, indicating he is not her biological father.

“After 5 DNA test … she dey craze … her and her mom better leave me the f*** alone and go find her papa,” Davido wrote, using strong language that quickly drew public attention. “Yes I chose 3 hospitals and they chose their own two hospitals … all came out negative … this is the last time I’m speaking on this nonsense,” he added in another post.

The singer also went further in his comments, denying any personal relationship with Anu’s mother apart from attending a single DNA test appointment, and insisted that the continued claims were unwarranted. In some exchanges, Davido’s replies included explicit language and a suggestion that the woman behind the claim should face legal consequences.

In response, Anu’s mother, Ayo Labinjoh, published alleged chat screenshots between her daughter and Davido on Instagram, saying the singer’s language was “awful” and that both Anu and her family had been subjected to emotional distress. According to her caption, Davido’s replies included threats to have her locked up and insults directed at her daughter, language she described as wrong and harmful.

Labinjoh reiterated her position that her daughter’s identity is at the heart of the matter, not fame or financial gain, and announced plans to seek a fresh, independently supervised DNA test. She said she would request involvement from the US State Department and the Nigerian embassy to ensure transparency, citing Davido’s US citizenship as a reason for seeking international oversight.

She also disputed parts of Davido’s account, stating the previously reported DNA tests were not conducted as claimed and accusing the singer’s camp of spreading misinformation about the number and legitimacy of past tests. Labinjoh said only one DNA sample had ever been taken under questionable circumstances, and that the blood was allegedly discarded behind her back.

Anu herself responded emotionally to the singer’s denial, describing the experience as heartbreaking after years of suffering bullying due to uncertainty about her paternity. She also challenged the inconsistency in the number of DNA tests described by Davido and reiterated her desire for clarity on her identity.

Public reaction to the unfolding saga has been intense and mixed. Some Nigerians have criticised Davido’s use of explicit language in discussing a sensitive issue involving a minor, while others defend his decision to rely on DNA evidence and dismiss what they view as ongoing unfounded claims. A number of social media users believe that a neutral, independently supervised DNA test could help bring closure to the matter and put an end to months of speculation.

As of this report, Davido has not publicly committed to publishing the DNA test results he described, nor confirmed any upcoming third-party test. The singer indicated his intention to make the DNA evidence public in response to online queries, suggesting he might publish results and pursue legal action if the matter continues. However, there has been no formal statement with documented evidence released at the time of writing.
