President Bola Tinubu has left Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Tinubu will attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit in early January, following an invitation from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
In a statement, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the week-long summit will bring together global leaders from government, business and civil society to advance discussions on sustainable development.
The 2026 edition, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” will focus on linking innovation, finance and people to drive sustainable growth.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit.
Tinubu’s trip comes days after he arrived in Lagos for the end-of-year holidays, following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states.
He was received at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, senior government officials and leaders of the All Progressives Congress.
