Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has restated his firm support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying those who stood with him in difficult times will remain loyal now that the political climate is calmer.

Wike spoke on Saturday in Ochigba, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State. He recalled that he and his allies openly backed Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, despite the risks and opposition in Rivers State.

The minister made the remarks while addressing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders at an end-of-year thanksgiving service organised by former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, in his hometown.

He urged his supporters not to succumb to intimidation, assuring them that their sacrifices would yield results.

Wike said those who supported Tinubu before the election are known and recognised, unlike those now expressing support after the victory.

“Before the 2023 election, the outcome was uncertain. Many people were afraid to openly support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said. “We took a stand when it was difficult, and today our choice has been vindicated.”

He stressed that politics demands courage and conviction, adding that supporters from Rivers State contributed significantly to Tinubu’s victory.

According to him, those who remained silent when it mattered cannot be compared with those who stood firm under pressure.

Wike also reaffirmed his belief in keeping agreements, saying loyalty and consistency guide his political actions. “Agreement is agreement. If you cannot do something, do not promise it,” he said.

He added that political activities would intensify from January, assuring supporters that their position remains unchanged.

“Our stand is clear,” Wike said. “We supported Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu when it was tough, and we will continue to support him. That position remains firm.”
