Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of Afrobeats star Davido, has dismissed online claims suggesting she denied the singer access to their daughter, Imade Adeleke, describing the allegations as false and harmful.
In a statement shared via her Snapchat page, Sophia said she has always prioritised her 10-year-old daughter’s safety and routine, stressing that she has never prevented Imade from having a relationship with her father.
She maintained that Imade is healthy, happy and well cared for, noting that her well-being is evident to anyone who has met her. Sophia added that she has been the child’s primary caregiver for the past five years and has personally handled almost all her expenses.
According to her, the only financial contribution from the Adeleke family has been Imade’s school fees, which she said have been paid by Davido’s father, Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, over the last three years. She further claimed that she has not received formal child support from Davido.
Sophia also disclosed that she recently waived all outstanding child support and gave up any future claims, thereby assuming full financial responsibility for Imade.
She appealed to the public to refrain from spreading what she described as misleading narratives about her daughter, urging social media users to leave the child out of adult disputes.
As of the time of reporting, Davido has not responded publicly to Sophia’s statements.
