Nollywood actress and producer, Zainab Balogun, has expressed disbelief after being charged ₦10,000 for a single cup of green tea at a Lagos restaurant.
Sharing the experience on Instagram, the actress said she had accompanied a friend to the restaurant but decided to order only tea since she wasn’t hungry. According to her, the drink was served in a pot alongside a large cup, and she enjoyed it without initially checking the price.
Recounting the moment the bill arrived, Zainab said she was stunned to discover she had spent ₦10,000 on what she described as “boiled water and two tea bags.”
“My mouth dropped so much I was hoping the people sitting next to me didn’t see that flies were catching my mouth,” she said humorously. “I obviously couldn’t argue with them because I drank their tea. There’s no way to give it back. I had to pay.”
The actress joked that she regretted not taking photos to make the expensive experience more worthwhile. “I should have joined another lady doing a photo shoot. You must use your money and the space well,” she added.
Reflecting on the incident, Zainab vowed to be more careful when dining out, saying she would stick to making her tea at home. “There’s tea at home. This will not happen again,” she concluded.
