Nigerian Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been officially inducted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body behind the Grammy Awards.

The new role gives Davido a direct say in the Grammy nomination and final voting process, beginning with the 2026 edition of the prestigious awards.

The announcement was made on Tuesday via the Recording Academy’s official Instagram page, which featured a video introducing Davido alongside other new inductees. The caption celebrated the dedication and passion required to make music, mentioning Davido and fellow members such as Ravyn Lenae, Offset, Jessie Reyez, Zac Brown Band, Anne Akiko Meyers, Miles Minnick, Maya Elizabeth, Damien Sneed, Damaris Música, and Stewart Copeland.

Reacting to the honour, Davido called his induction a “game-changer,” expressing excitement about being part of the influential global community that shapes the future of the Grammys.

“Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard, I am participating in the GRAMMY Award process. It’s a game-changer. I’ve learned that voting gives you the power to influence what’s considered each season. I’m honoured to be part of the Recording Academy and look forward to voting,” Davido said.

Davido’s inclusion underscores the Academy’s ongoing commitment to diversifying its membership and increasing representation for African and international artists within the global music scene.

Meanwhile, the Recording Academy announced that voting for the 2026 Grammy Awards will commence on October 3, urging members to review, listen, and vote early.
