Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, has officially announced his plan to contest the 2026 Osun governorship election on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform. The announcement came on Saturday through his verified X account (formerly Twitter).
Omisore said his formal declaration will take place on October 7, 2025, at the APC Secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital. He revealed that the event will follow the theme: “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams.” This reflects his commitment to improving governance and state development.
In a statement, Omisore said:
“I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun. This is not just my mission; it is a collective one. I humbly invite you to join me as we take this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026.”

Omisore has tried several times to win the governorship seat but has not succeeded. He contested the 2014 election on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform. Later, he joined the APC, strengthening his political profile.
With the 2026 Osun governorship election approaching, he is considered a top contender for the APC ticket. His campaign emphasizes good governance, social development, and economic growth. These priorities reflect his long-term vision for the state.
As political activities intensify, Omisore’s declaration marks the start of a competitive race. It also signals APC’s intention to present a strong candidate in the upcoming elections.
