Former WWE star Enzo Amore, now wrestling under the name Real1, has fueled speculation of a possible comeback to the company after suggesting that his rumored “lifetime ban” may no longer be in effect. His comments, made during a recent interview, have reignited discussions among fans about whether WWE could ever bring him back.
From WWE Beginnings to Controversial Exit
Enzo Amore joined WWE in August 2012 despite having no professional wrestling background. He was discovered after submitting a promo video to trainer Joe DeFranco, who later showed it to Triple H. Within months, he teamed with Big Cass, forming The Realest Guys in the Room. Their charisma, mic skills, and catchphrases made them one of WWE’s most entertaining acts.
After splitting from Big Cass, Amore transitioned into singles competition. He went on to win the Cruiserweight Championship twice, solidifying himself as a key figure in the division. However, in January 2018, WWE suspended and later released him following sexual assault allegations. Although police cleared him of wrongdoing, WWE opted not to rehire him.
The New Jersey native stepped away from wrestling to pursue a music career but later returned to the independent scene under the names nZo and Real1. He has since performed for notable promotions including ROH, MLW, NJPW, and recently 4th Rope Wrestling.
Building a Post-WWE Legacy
Despite no longer being in WWE, Amore has found success on the independent circuit. He is currently the 4th Rope Flyweight Champion, holding the title for over 130 days, and also reigns as the ACW National Champion. Both championships represent his only title runs outside WWE.
At TNA’s 21st Slammiversary event, Amore teamed with Zilla Fatu, son of the late WWE legend Umaga, and Josh Bishop in a winning effort against Mance Warner, Jake Something, and Steve Maclin. The show, which featured crossover talent from WWE, fueled speculation about possible future collaborations involving Amore.
During the same event, WWE’s Trick Williams successfully defended the TNA World Championship, a moment that reinforced WWE’s working ties with TNA. Amore later pointed out the significance of performing on the same stage as WWE talent, describing the experience as “weird but meaningful.”
Reconciliation With WWE Leadership
In an appearance on the Julian Dorey Podcast, Amore discussed his past relationship with WWE leadership. He hinted that he had patched things up with Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, and suggested that they had resolved any old animosity.
When asked about his rumored lifetime ban, Amore replied:
“I don’t know if I’m lifetime banned. I haven’t called them, but I’ve mended my relationship with Triple H.”
He also revealed that a WWE production executive once told him there might be an opportunity for him to return. At the time, however, Amore admitted he deliberately stayed away from wrestling, believing the allegations would eventually fade.
Amore acknowledged that he had built up “backstage heat” during his WWE run, which may have contributed to his release. Reflecting on his career, he admitted that he still does not fully understand all the circumstances behind his departure but credited his faith and resilience for helping him move forward.
Independent Future With WWE Possibilities
Enzo Amore continues to perform across the United States, recently defeating Steven Lust at NWWE’s Summer Sizzler event. With his growing presence on the independent scene and ongoing championship reigns, he remains a relevant figure in the wrestling world.
According to ITR Wrestling, his comments about repairing his relationship with Triple H and his appearance on crossover events have reignited speculation that a WWE return is possible. While nothing official has been confirmed, the door may not be completely closed.
For now, Amore remains focused on building his legacy outside WWE, but fans continue to watch closely for signs of a potential return to the company where he first made his name.
