Nollywood veteran Patrick Doyle has spoken out about the recent incident involving Fuji star KWAM 1 at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. According to him, the singer may have been deliberately provoked by ValueJet staff.

Earlier, reports revealed that KWAM 1 had a confrontation with airline officials over his attempt to board with alcoholic beverages. The issue sparked online debate and drew the attention of several public figures.

In response, Doyle took to Facebook on Thursday to share his perspective. He believes some airport workers target celebrities intentionally, pushing them into outbursts for personal satisfaction.

According to Doyle, while many celebrities receive special treatment in public places, not all experiences are positive. For instance, he enjoyed VIP courtesy on a recent trip to Accra. Immigration officers and even supermarket staff treated him with great respect.

However, not every journey has gone smoothly. He recounted a troubling experience at Asaba Airport. There, a staff member denied him carry-on access because his luggage slightly exceeded the weight limit.

Instead of speaking politely, the staffer barked at him to “respect yourself.” Doyle noted that her colleague had just taken a selfie with him, proving she recognized him. Still, she acted rudely.

Doyle explained that some service workers seem eager to provoke celebrities. He suspects that certain individuals carry personal grudges based on movie roles or public interviews.

He wrote, “Once you react, they brag about making a celebrity lose control. That’s what they want, to humiliate you in public.”

Fortunately, Doyle avoided escalating the situation. He remained calm, knowing she wanted to bait him. In contrast, he believes KWAM 1 reacted emotionally, falling into the trap they had set.

He concluded by urging public figures to practice restraint. According to him, such provocations are designed to damage reputations.

“Nowadays, I pray for grace and self-control,” he wrote. “Some people are sent just to test your patience. Avoid their traps.”

KWAM 1’s airport incident has sparked concerns over the treatment of public figures in Nigeria. Doyle’s account adds a deeper layer to the conversation, suggesting some confrontations are not accidental but calculated.
