The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a change in the venue for its 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Initially planned to hold at the party’s national secretariat, ‘Buhari House’ in Abuja, the meeting will now take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

In a statement on Wednesday, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, attributed the change to logistical reasons.

“The All Progressives Congress announces that the meeting of the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) scheduled for Thursday, 24th July, 2025, will now hold at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The change of venue from the Party’s National Secretariat is due to logistical reasons,” Morka stated.

Key issues expected to dominate Thursday’s deliberations include the appointment of a substantive National Chairman, following the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje on June 27.

Former Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, are reportedly emerging as leading contenders for the chairmanship position.

Ganduje stepped down citing health reasons amid growing criticisms and internal power realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Following his resignation, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, was appointed Acting National Chairman pending the emergence of a substantive replacement.

According to party sources, Thursday’s NEC meeting will also consider updates from the Constitution Review Committee and scheduling of party congresses nationwide.

There are indications that many APC leaders prefer Dalori to continue as acting chairman until an Elective Convention is conducted to appoint new members of the National Working Committee.

Stakeholders, including the Progressives Governors’ Forum and current NWC members, are said to be awaiting President Bola Tinubu’s final endorsement before making public declarations on the party’s leadership direction.
