Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has dismissed the outcry from supporters of Peter Obi, questioning why they are “crying wolf” over his recent remarks.
The Governor made this statement in response to criticism following his warning to Obi, the former Anambra State governor and 2027 presidential hopeful.
Okpebholo, who was elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), had earlier declared that Obi would bear responsibility for any consequences if he visits Edo State without first seeking his permission.
Despite the backlash his comments generated, the Governor maintained that he merely offered advice, not a threat.
Speaking to a large gathering in Edo on Tuesday, Okpebholo mocked his critics, questioning why they felt hurt by his remarks referencing Obi’s own words about having no money.
He said, “Just one word and everyone is crying. I only said, ‘Don’t come to Edo without informing me.’ I don’t know why they’re pained. Is it because I said they don’t have ‘shishi’? Didn’t they say it themselves? So why are they crying?”
