The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has revealed a coordinated sabotage plot by a syndicate of both known and faceless individuals, including some within its system.
In a public notice signed by its management on Friday, NNPC said these actors are spreading lies and misinformation to discredit its leadership and derail its transformation into a corruption-free, performance-driven energy giant as mandated by President Bola Tinubu.
According to the company, their tactics involve planting fabricated and scandalous reports to distract leadership, mislead the public, and undermine its dedicated workforce and reform-minded Nigerians.
NNPC described these moves as calculated efforts by those threatened by transparency, accountability, and change, vowing that no amount of sabotage will stop the transformation process.
“We expect more defamatory content in the coming days and weeks, but we remain undeterred. Our transformation is underway, and we urge staff, stakeholders, and patriotic Nigerians to stay focused and ignore the noise,” it stated.
Recall that in April, President Tinubu dissolved the NNPC board, sacking GCEO Mele Kyari and chairman Pius Akinyelure. Bayo Ojulari was appointed as the new GCEO, with Ahmadu Kida as board chair, alongside a new 8-member senior management team.
The company also sacked the managing directors of its three state-owned refineries and directed management staff with less than a year to retirement to proceed on exit.
