Tension is rising in Kano as a viral video shows dozens of angry youths pulling down a massive campaign billboard featuring President Bola Tinubu and other APC leaders.

The billboard carried the bold inscription, “Fatan Alheri 2027”, which means “Best Wishes for 2027” in Hausa. Many see it as an early sign of Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

Viral Video Sparks Mixed Reactions

The incident happened on a busy street in Kano. The young men, most of them in their 20s, used sticks and bare hands to destroy the structure. Others stood by, cheering and filming with their phones.

The video appeared online less than 24 hours after President Tinubu visited Benue State. He went there to offer condolences following the killing of over 200 residents by suspected herders.

Currently, Tinubu is in Kaduna for events hosted by Governor Uba Sani. He is also expected to meet political stakeholders during the visit.

Farotimi Criticises Tinubu Over Benue Visit

Human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi has condemned the president’s actions in Benue. He accused Tinubu of turning the condolence visit into a political campaign.

Speaking on Channels Television, Farotimi called the president’s conduct “insensitive” and “disrespectful” to the victims and their families.

He said, “The government must admit the truth. It is making the ongoing killings worse through its actions and silence.”

Farotimi expressed shock that the president could deliver what seemed like a campaign speech in a state mourning hundreds of deaths.

He added, “Any government’s first duty is to protect lives and property. This government has failed in that responsibility.”

According to him, Nigeria is becoming numb to violence, and leaders no longer treat tragedies with the seriousness they deserve.

“The APC-led government must change its approach,” he said. “It must stop being complicit and start valuing Nigerian lives.”
