Nigerian music sensation Davido has announced his withdrawal from 50 Cent’s highly anticipated London concert, which is part of the rapper’s Legacy Tour and also features R&B icon Mary J. Blige.
The concert, slated for July 3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the UK, will go on—but without Davido.
Taking to his Instagram Stories on Saturday, the Unavailable crooner made it clear that his exit had nothing to do with ticket sales. Rather, it was due to what he called “a matter of principle and respect” for his art.
“Despite strong fan support and impressive ticket sales, there have been major misalignments regarding the event’s execution,” Davido wrote.
“Key elements needed to maintain the quality of my performance were not met, and these issues remain unresolved.”
Davido emphasized that he and his team worked tirelessly to ensure the show would live up to expectations but were ultimately left with no choice.
“I’ve extended full support to the promoters, The Neto Future Group (@iconicpresents), but sadly, the circumstances did not allow for the performance I envisioned,” he said.
“This decision is not about turnout or support—it’s about principle, my fans, and the culture I represent.”
Despite pulling out of the London show, the Afrobeat star reassured fans that all his other summer tour dates remain unchanged.
“London, I’ll see you guys soon, I promise! The rest of my summer shows are still happening—Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada, the US—we move! 5ive is still alive! Africa must be respected.”
The news comes shortly after Davido’s generous donation of ₦300 million to orphanages across Nigeria, reaffirming his commitment to giving back to the community and staying true to his values.
