The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked claims by billionaire businessman Arthur Eze that President Bola Tinubu has endorsed Governor Peter Mbah for a second term.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Saturday by its Publicity Secretary, Titus Ezeagu, the party described Eze’s remarks as misleading and self-serving, asserting that President Tinubu has not backed any governor for re-election.

Eze, during Governor Mbah’s second anniversary celebration on Thursday, said, “Tinubu has already endorsed him (Mbah) for second term because he has character and is honest. Nobody will stop him.”

Reacting, the Enugu APC dismissed the comments as “personal opinion driven by self-interest,” stressing that Arthur Eze is neither a member of the APC nor an official spokesperson for the President.

The party further noted that Eze had openly opposed Tinubu’s presidential ambition during the 2023 elections and, therefore, lacked the moral or political authority to speak on his behalf.

“It is disingenuous and opportunistic for someone who opposed the President’s candidacy to now claim to speak for him,” the statement read.

APC Warns Against False Claims, Reaffirms Support for Tinubu

The APC warned against attempts to distort the democratic process with false claims, urging Eze to focus on his business and stop dragging Tinubu’s name into partisan politics.

“President Tinubu has not endorsed Governor Mbah or any other governor for a second term, either publicly or privately,” it added.

The party accused Eze of trying to promote what it called “anti-people governance” in Enugu under the guise of presidential backing, saying such propaganda could harm the President’s image.

Reaffirming its commitment to providing a credible alternative in Enugu, the APC said any second-term endorsement must come through the ballot box, not political propaganda.

It also pledged support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, under the leadership of Chief Uche Nwakaibie, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
