Jehovah’s Witnesses are inviting the public to their global convention series, themed “Pure Worship!” The annual three-day event is free and open to all. It will begin on June 6 and run through August 31, 2025, at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Bogije, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.

This year, the event will run for 11 weekends, drawing more than 33,000 attendees to Lekki. Organisers say the convention will focus on sincere reverence to God and how it can help people face today’s challenges.

Each year, Jehovah’s Witnesses offer this programme in cities across the globe. In 2024, over 11 million people attended more than 6,000 conventions worldwide. The Lagos event is expected to boost the local economy through increased demand for transportation, lodging, and food services.

Jahswill Stephen, spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses, expressed excitement about this year’s gathering.

“We look forward to another spiritually uplifting time in Lekki,” he said.
“The convention’s theme offers clarity to many who seek hope. We believe every attendee will leave refreshed and better prepared to handle life’s difficulties.”

What to Expect at the Convention

The three-day programme will include Bible-based talks, live interviews, and video presentations. Each day has a unique focus. Here are some of the highlights:

Friday, 8:40 a.m. – “What Is Pure Worship?”

Saturday, 2:30 p.m. – “Take These Things Away from Here!”

Sunday, 10:15 a.m. – “Do You Worship What You Know?”

Doors open at 8:20 a.m. daily. Friday sessions end by 3:50 p.m., Saturday by 3:40 p.m., and Sunday by 2:50 p.m. A one-hour and 20-minute lunch break will be observed each day.

Saturday will feature the baptism of local candidates, a key moment for many. Attendees will also enjoy a special viewing of Episode 2 of “The Good News According to Jesus.” The 18-part video series follows the life of Christ using Gospel accounts. Episode 2 will be shown in two parts, on Friday and Saturday.

“The series brings Jesus’ teachings to life,” Stephen noted. “It helps us see their value today.”

Expanding to More Locations

While the Lekki convention remains a major event, similar programmes will take place across Nigeria. One notable location is the Assembly Hall on Idiroko Road in Ota, Ogun State.

Jehovah’s Witnesses, known for their peaceful lifestyle and educational work, remain one of the world’s largest non-profit Christian organisations. Their conventions promote Bible literacy, strong values, and unity.
