Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken legal action against the Nigerian Senate, insisting that her six-month suspension stems from political bias and violates her constitutional rights.

In March 2025, the Senate suspended her over allegations that she disrupted sessions by speaking without recognition, ignored seating protocols, and made remarks that leaders described as “abusive.”

However, the Kogi Central lawmaker argues that Senate President Godswill Akpabio orchestrated the punishment as retaliation for her public accusation of sexual harassment against him.

Due to the controversial suspension, Akpoti-Uduaghan has now approached the court. According to her, the Senate targeted her not for misconduct, but because she dared to expose harassment at the highest level. She believes the punishment aims to silence her and discourage other women from speaking out.

Her legal challenge has sparked reactions across social media, with many Nigerians expressing support while others raised questions about her motives.
