Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has called on the South-East to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Kalu made the appeal in a statement issued by his media aide, Udora Orizu, following a meeting with the Abia branch of the Tinubu Mandate Support Group and the Club 17 Initiative on Saturday.
“We must invest our votes where progress is evident, and that’s with Tinubu. Ndi Igbo must stand firmly behind his mandate. He has given us recognition and brought us closer,” Kalu said.
He argued that President Tinubu had earned a second term through bold economic, social, and political reforms achieved over the past two years.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a good product for a second term. I believed in him long before meeting him, and he believed in me first. I was among those who urged him to run for president,” Kalu added.
He praised Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a progressive Nigerian committed to building a lasting legacy.
“Our task is to amplify the achievements of Tinubu’s administration. The Igbo must unite and offer him full support,” Kalu emphasized.
Earlier, Chairman of the Tinubu Mandate Support Group in Abia, Armstrong Okoronkwo, commended Kalu’s performance at the National Assembly.
Okoronkwo said the group is working tirelessly to secure Tinubu’s re-election.
“We will highlight what Tinubu is doing for the South-East, particularly Abia. Supporting you for deputy speaker has boosted our political prospects,” he said.
He urged for greater grassroots mobilization to promote Tinubu’s achievements, adding, “We must speak to the people. As Igbo, we are determined to ensure he wins a second term.”
