Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has assured that he has not lost any of the supporters who helped him emerge victorious in 2022, urging his followers not to worry about those who have left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement signed by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, and obtained in Osogbo on Saturday, Governor Adeleke said recent defections had not weakened the PDP but instead strengthened it, crediting the spread of developmental projects across the state.
Responding to recent events within the party, Adeleke pointed out that the 2022 victory was secured through the commitment and loyalty of PDP members, despite the anti-party activities of certain leaders.
He said, “We know how we made it to the Government House and those God used to make it happen. We are also aware of those who worked openly or secretly against us. We recognize those who once opposed us but have now aligned with our good governance agenda, as well as those who are still opposing us.”
The governor further assured PDP members that the party’s membership had expanded, with numerous defectors from the opposition joining its fold.
“We have grown stronger and gained more support. Since 2022, we have retained all genuine supporters, while our performance has drawn even more allies, partners, and goodwill across party lines,” he stated.
Adeleke emphasized that his administration ensures fair treatment for all federal constituencies, highlighting one constituency that holds three key positions in his cabinet.
“Our infrastructure projects are designed to benefit every part of the state, while our local content programmes create opportunities for all. We are running a truly pan-Osun government,” he said.
He urged PDP members to stay united and steadfast, expressing gratitude for the growing wave of endorsements from various interest groups. He also pledged to stay focused on advancing the Imole Agenda beyond 2026.
“As a government delivering on all fronts, we enjoy the people’s goodwill. We must avoid distractions and strengthen our grassroots mobilisation. In line with the rule of law, we will soon resolve the challenges within the local government system,” Adeleke assured.
The governor praised elected PDP local government chairmen and councillors for their sacrifice and patience, saying, “We must uphold our democratic resilience to ensure that the will of the people prevails at the grassroots.”
Adeleke further thanked groups and individuals endorsing him for a second term, promising continued loyalty to both the PDP and the people of Osun State.
“Our members can rest assured that we remain committed to building a stronger PDP and sustaining pro-people governance across Osun State,” he said.
