The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) has accused the Abia State Commissioner of Police of unfairly targeting Igbo communities while allegedly ignoring attacks by Fulani herdsmen.

In a statement, the pro-Biafra group claimed that the police summoned leaders from Nkpa in Isikwuato Local Government Area over what it described as false allegations concerning the killing of a Fulani herder. IPoB alleges that the police interrogation was a strategy to weaken the community’s ability to defend itself against attacks.

“The police should be protecting the people from criminal herdsmen, not intimidating them,” the statement read. “It is unacceptable for security forces to pressure innocent communities while failing to hold known aggressors accountable.”

IPoB Calls for an End to Police Intimidation

IPoB warned that such actions by the police could increase tensions between local communities and non-indigenous groups in Abia State. The group criticized security agencies for allegedly siding with attackers rather than defending law-abiding citizens.

The statement also accused the Nigerian government of bias, claiming that its institutions, including the judiciary, have failed to curb violent attacks against indigenous communities.

ESN Vows to Protect Igbo Communities

IPoB reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Biafra land through its security arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). It stressed that self-defense is a fundamental right and vowed that ESN operatives would remain on the ground to prevent further attacks.

IPoB Urges Global Igbo Community to Take Action

The group called on Igbo people at home and abroad to mobilize resources for community protection, warning that they cannot afford to remain passive in the face of threats. It also reiterated that Biafra land “will never be conquered” and vowed continued resistance against what it described as state-backed oppression.

As of now, the Abia State Police Command has not issued a response to the allegations.
