Update: More photos as 3 people got rescued from ikoyi building collapse
Vondigest.com reported earlier that a 21 storey building still under construction on Getald Road Ikoyi Lagos collapsed today and many were feared dead.
News reaching this online media is that with the combined efforts of the Lagos Rescue Unit(LRU), Lagos State Fire Service and LASAMBUS, 3 victims of the collapsed 21-storey building on Gerald Road, Ikoyi were rescued alive, while rescue operations is currently going on.
Dr. Kauri Obafemi Hamza, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, and other top state functionaries, including the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. idris Salako, Commissioner for Special duty, Mr. Bamgbose- Martins, Special Adviser, Urban Development, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, Special Adviser, GIS and Physical Planning, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development as well as General Manager, LASEMA Dr. Femi Oke- Osanyintolu got to the scene promptly to ensure help is at hand for people trapped in the collapsed building.
Investigations are still ongoing as to ascertain the cause of the collapse while the General Managers of the Lagos State Building Control Agency and the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority were on ground to get on the spot summary assessment on the extent of damage to the surrounding structures, if any.
