Several Worshippers abducted, two killed as bandits attack Kaduna Baptist church
Bandits on Sunday, 31st October, 2021 invaded the Baptist Church, Kakau Daji in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killing two while an unknown number of people were said to have been abducted.
The gunmen were reported to have invaded the church on Sunday while people were worshipping and started shooting sporadically all over the place.
They killed two of the worshippers on the spot and left the church with several others.
The President of the Kaduna Baptist Convention, Rev. Ishaya Jangado, confirmed the incident but noted that the exact number of those abducted had yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
“The incident occurred this morning but we don’t know the exact number of people that were kidnapped yet,” he told Channels Television on Sunday
No official confirmation came too from either the state government or the police as the Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Mohammad Jalige, could not be reached when contacted.
Chairman of the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN, Rev. Joseph Hayab, while reacting to the incident, said the attack was “another sad story of how deteriorating our insecurity has become.”
Hayab added: “Citizens are being killed like chickens with only press statements as consolation. These evil people have troubled us for too long.”
Sunday’s attack is the latest in the series of attacks by bandits who terrorize Chikun and some other LGAs in Kaduna.
Condemning the attack, Governor Nasir El-Rufai directed security agencies to conduct thorough investigations into the incident and asked citizens to maintain order.
He also cautioned against stereotyping of any sort and appealed for consistent recourse to constituted agencies.
These attacks, carried out over the years, have led to the deaths of many people and the abduction of hundreds in the state.
